Presently, Aetna Calvary Church is a "solo" pastor church. Aside from a part-time custodian, Pastor Phil Jones is "IT"! You probably want to know something about him and his wife, Pat......
They came to Aetna in April, 2004 after ministering in Southeastern Michigan for over 25 years. Pastor Phil has been in ministry over 30 years, having recieved his training for ministry at Oak Hills Bible Institute (Bemidji MN), Faith Baptist Bible College (Ankeny IA), and Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary (MI).
Pastor has family "roots" in Newaygo County. Both his grandparents lived in the area for many years. He even attended White Cloud schools from Kindergarten through Fourth Grade!
Pastor and Pat make their home in Denver Township, on Luce Ave. They hope God leaves them here for a long time....... they're getting to old to move again! They have been married for 39 years, and have four grown children. Oh yes....they have five grandchildren - and the pictures to prove it!
Pastor Phils greatest joy in ministry is teaching the Bible with the goal of seeing God change lives through His Word. He is most comfortable teaching through Books or sections of the Bible. Study notes are provided for every sermon.
Our Pastor regularly visits in hospitals, nursing homes, and the homes of members and our guests. He has worked hard to earn his reputation as a "People Person"- you will have to put him to the test! He would be delighted to have you as part of his "Bible Class" on a regular basis!
It is not outside the realm of possibility that we will add other pastoral staff positions in the future.....God will lead us in this!
